Semtex Weekend Update

It was another sensational weekend for the Semtex team as Maxim osiptsov claimed the UK1 light Heavyweight British title in a hard earned victory over 3 rounds against Valentino Petrescu and securing a uninamous decision. Maxim had taken the fight with just two days notice and showed typical Semtex heart. Petrescu started fast and landed some wicked hooks, one of which dropped the Semtex gym representative, leaving him on unsteady feet.To his infinite credit, Osiptsov remained calm and clawed his way back into the contest. In the second and third rounds, he landed some vicious long knees and an array of powerful kicks, even knocking the Essex fighter down with a hard front kick to the body.A fantastic victory !
Luke Whelan, Harley McLeod and Poppy Woodgate were also all in action this weekend in Cambridge at the "Born to Fight 7" Show. Luke fought his first full A class bout and gave a tremendous display utilising his full repertoire of skills. His striking, leg kicks amd elbows were all text book as he powered his way to a unanimous decison win. Harley showed fantastic boxing skills in his 5th full Head Contact bout and earned himself a hard earned unanimous decision win. Poppy made her debut under interclub rules and put in a fantastic display. Another great performace from all involved.
In other news Valmyr Neto, the Semtex BJJ Coach, took VN Team to the Rolling Thunder No Gi open in Canterbury and his 19 entries returned with 19 medals! 11 golds, 4 silver and 4 bronze. Another astounding achievement and thoroughly deserved for all his outstanding coaching. Valmyr holds BJJ classes at the Semtex Gym on Tuesday and Thursday from 8pm to 9pm. All levels are welcome.
Once again , well done Team Semtex for another great weekend!!
